Coolmax is marketed as "moisture-wicking" and "breathable". As a polyester, it is moderately hydrophobic, so it absorbs little fluid and dries relatively quickly (compared to absorbent fibers such as cotton). The cross-section is non-round, increasing surface area by an estimated 20% (over round fibers) in order to produce a wicking effect via capillary action

How does it work?

Unlike other fibres, CoolMax fibres aren’t round. They’re slightly oblong shaped in cross-section with grooves running lengthwise along the threads. Manufactured in a tetrachannel or hexachannel style allows moisture/liquid to be drawn away quickly from the skin. The moisture wicks through the fabric via these channels and out to a wider surface area for a greater evaporation rate. Keeping your feet feeling cool, dry and fresher for longer.
